FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is talk2 me?

It's a physical notebook designed to be passed back and forth between a parent and child. You write something, leave it for them to find, and they respond when ready. It creates a low-pressure space for the conversations that are hard to have face-to-face.

Who is it for?

Any parent or caregiver who wants to deepen their connection with their kid. It works especially well for ages 8 and up — kids who can read and write independently but might struggle with in-the-moment conversations.

What if my kid doesn't write back?

That's okay. The notebook isn't about forced responses — it's about creating an open door. Sometimes just knowing the door is there is enough. Keep writing. They're reading, even if they're not ready to respond yet.

Do I have to use it every day?

No. There's no schedule and no pressure. Some families pass it every few days. Others pick it up once a month. What matters is that it's there when you need it.

Are there prompts inside?

Yes. The notebook includes guided prompt pages to help start conversations, free-write pages for open expression, alternating 'From me to you' and 'From you to me' sections, and quick check-in pages for busy days.

Can I use more than one?

Absolutely. Some families use separate notebooks for different relationships — one for parent-child, one for siblings, one for co-parents. Do what works for your family.

Is this a journal?

It's more than a journal. A journal is something you write in alone. talk2 me is a conversation — it goes back and forth between two people, creating a shared record of your relationship.

What if I'm not good at writing?

Perfect is not the point. Honest is the point. Cross things out, draw a picture, write three words — whatever feels real to you. Your kid doesn't need polished prose. They need to know you showed up.
